The Youth Poll Propensity Updates trend core metrics related to youth propensity by key recruiting subpopulations. Propensity among youth ages 16 to 21 is low in Spring 2025, at 11%. Half of youth (50%) have never considered military service, which remains near historical highs. Few youth are knowledgeable about military service (11%), and one-third of youth (33%) say they feel very favorably about the Military. Youths’ perceptions that it is difficult to find a job remain generally low, but have been steadily rising in the past few years (33%). Almost half of youth (42%) say it is equally likely to find a good-paying job in either the Military or civilian sector, and nearly one-third (32%) say this likelihood is higher in the civilian sector. About one-fifth of youth (18%) say that having a good-paying job is more likely in the Military compared to the civilian sector.
